Who We Are
Who We Are

Luminous She Initiatives is a youth-led, community-based nonprofit advancing inclusive economic growth, food security, and environmental resilience in Ayobo, Lagos, Nigeria. We design and implement scalable, community-driven programmes that empower women and underserved youth while strengthening local food systems and sustainable livelihoods. Our model integrates grassroots action with structured partnerships to deliver measurable, long-term impact.

Our interventions address interconnected challenges of unemployment, food insecurity, and environmental degradation. Through skills development for teenage mothers and young women, urban and backyard farming initiatives, climate-smart agricultural practices, and responsible waste management advocacy, we strengthen household resilience and income generation. We leverage digital innovation, including our WhatsApp Market Hub, to improve market access and enhance small-scale enterprise growth. To date, our initiatives have reached over 300 community members through training, mentorship, and collaborative programming.

We work in partnership with schools, health centres, traditional and religious leaders, and local government institutions to ensure sustainability, accountability, and policy alignment. Guided by the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), our approach combines evidence-informed programming, community ownership, and multi-stakeholder collaboration to create replicable models for inclusive development and resilient food systems.
